How the Forces on the Fairways Golf Tournament Makes a Difference for Veterans

Supporting military veterans extends far beyond words of appreciation. It requires meaningful opportunities that encourage connection, promote wellness, and strengthen local communities. The annual Forces on the Fairways Golf Tournament, hosted by The Palozola Foundation, has become one of those opportunities by using the game of golf to create lasting benefits for veterans throughout the year.
Set for Monday, September 14, 2026, at Bogey Hills Country Club, the tournament brings together golfers, businesses, volunteers, and supporters who share a commitment to giving back. While participants enjoy a day on the course, the event also raises funds that allow The Palozola Foundation to continue expanding programs that serve veterans across the region.
A Mission Inspired by Military Service
The Palozola Foundation was established in 2018 by golf professional Maria Palozola and her sister Sally Palozola Cherre. Inspired by the military service of their father, grandfather, and nephews, the sisters created the Foundation to honor their family's legacy while helping veterans experience the many benefits golf can provide.
The Foundation's mission focuses on improving the body, mind, and spirit of veterans through golf. Its programs encourage participants to stay active, build lasting friendships, and enjoy an environment where they feel welcomed and supported. For many veterans, these opportunities become an important part of maintaining both physical and emotional well-being.
Creating Opportunities Beyond the Golf Course
Although Forces on the Fairways is one of the Foundation's largest fundraising events, its impact continues long after tournament day.
The organization has successfully sold out nine consecutive tournaments, demonstrating the strong commitment shown by golfers, sponsors, and community partners. The proceeds help support free golf leagues offered during the summer, fall, and winter at eight different locations, allowing veterans to remain engaged throughout the year.
The Foundation also collaborates with PGA HOPE to provide golf instruction that introduces veterans to the sport in a welcoming environment. Accessibility initiatives remain another important priority. Specialized golf carts and adaptive range equipment help veterans with mobility challenges participate more comfortably, while sponsorships assist amputee veterans who compete in tournaments across the United States.
Every initiative reflects the Foundation's commitment to ensuring golf remains accessible to veterans regardless of their physical abilities or previous experience with the game.
A Day Dedicated to Giving Back
The tournament offers much more than an afternoon of golf. Participants can enjoy a full schedule that combines competition with opportunities to support a worthwhile cause.
Registration opens at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch and an opening ceremony beginning at 11:00 a.m. A noon shotgun start officially begins tournament play before guests return to enjoy appetizers, live music, and auction results after the round concludes.
Golfers may register as teams or as individuals, making it easy for both experienced players and newcomers to become part of the event.
Community Partnerships Fuel the Mission
The continued growth of Forces on the Fairways would not be possible without businesses and organizations that choose to invest in the veteran community.
Sponsors contribute to the Foundation's success through several sponsorship opportunities, including Presenting Sponsor, Platinum Sponsor, Gold Sponsor, Silver Sponsor, Lunch Sponsor, Exclusive Hole Sponsor, Putting Green Sponsor, and Hole Sponsor. These partnerships provide valuable support that helps expand veteran programming while increasing awareness of the Foundation's mission.
Every sponsorship represents an investment in programs that continue making a positive difference throughout the year.
The Lasting Benefits of Golf
Golf offers veterans more than recreation. The sport encourages regular physical activity, strengthens confidence, and creates opportunities for meaningful conversations with others who have shared similar experiences.
The Foundation's leagues, clinics, and adaptive programs help veterans develop new skills while building friendships that often extend well beyond the golf course. These personal connections can play an important role in helping veterans maintain an active lifestyle and remain engaged within their communities.
By removing barriers to participation and expanding access through adaptive equipment, The Palozola Foundation continues creating opportunities for more veterans to experience everything the game has to offer.
Continuing a Meaningful Tradition
Each year, Forces on the Fairways demonstrates how a community can come together to support those who have served our country. The tournament is more than a fundraising event. It is an opportunity to honor veterans while investing in programs that improve lives throughout the year.
Whether participating as a golfer, sponsor, volunteer, or donor, every contribution helps The Palozola Foundation continue its mission of serving veterans through golf. The support received from the community ensures these valuable programs can continue reaching even more veterans in the years ahead.
